Philander Smith University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, Association for Collegiate and Business Schools and Programs, and the Council on Social Work Education and currently offers four degrees: the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Social Work.

PSU is taking over Dickey-Stephens Park for PSU Day at the Ballpark on Friday, September 4!

Come out in your GREEN & GOLD as the Arkansas Travelers take on the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The Philander Smith Collegiate Choir will open the evening with the National Anthem, and our 15th President, Dr. Maurice D. Gipson, will take the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch! ⚾

🎟️ $50 Game Day Experience
Includes special game seating plus all-you-can-eat food and drinks in the Club Car Picnic Area from 6:05–8:05 p.m.

Our newest Philanderians gathered this week for the New Beginnings Ceremony, where the 15th President, Dr. Maurice D. Gipson, welcomed them into the Philander Smith University community and offered a charge for the years ahead.

Before she made history on the national stage, Dr. Joycelyn Elders was a Philanderian.

A 1952 graduate of Philander Smith College, Dr. Elders went on to become the first African American and second woman to serve as Surgeon General of the United States.

On Tuesday, August 18, we invite alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends to join us at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre for The Remarkable Resignation of Dr. Joycelyn Elders, written and directed by Steve Broadnax III.

Just three months after receiving their degrees from Philander Smith University, Samya Johnson, Tabry Jordan, Reagan Rudd-Parker and Antonio Veritas have traded one classroom for another, beginning their careers as educators in the Little Rock School District. 🍎💚💛

While the first day of school may have looked a little different for these Philanderians, we’re proud to see them representing PSU and investing in the next generation of students right here in our community.
