GOALS, STRATEGY & ART
Artists often have vague goals that lead to nebulous strategies and fail to gain traction for funding or in community building. Getting what you want as an artist — whether it's getting commissions or getting on stage — requires you to understand where you are as an artist, where you want to be specifically, and who you know who can help you get where you want to be. On top of that, you must go into your community and support others to get your own work noticed. This lecture talks about outside-the-box ideas that work for getting your work out there and how building up others can help your own work.

Thanks to the Windgate Foundation this lecture and demonstration are FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC through our artWORKS program. NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY.

Starting at a new school can be intimidating, but never fear, First Year Experience is here!

First Year Experience (FYE): Visual Arts is a special course for freshman art majors that provides information about the university (like student support services) and the School of Art and Design. Yesterday FYE students got to visit with Assistant Professor Keenan Rowe in the woodworking studio to learn about that space and to hear details about the woodworking program. Students were able to ask questions, view the different areas of the studio, and get a glimpse of the specialized processes that are necessary for working with wood as an art medium. Thanks, Keenan!
