The Communication Skills Center (CSC) in the Department of Applied Communication helps take the panic out of public speaking! The CSC is a free student, faculty, and staff resource devoted to helping with all stages of the speech creation process. We are located in the new library Learning Commons, on the first floor of Ottenheimer Library! What we can help with:
We can help with ACOM 1300 or othe

r ACOM classes as well as presentations in other classes or contexts. We also offer public speaking professional development for faculty and staff. Our services include, but are not limited to:

managing communication and public speaking anxiety
brainstorming topics
conducting research
organizing content
adapting messages to audiences
designing and integrating effective presentational aids
one-on-one rehearsal coaching
ACOM major advising

While we are ready to help students with their presentations and other communication-related skills, we also want to encourage students who are feeling isolated during this time to feel free to use our online services whenever they need a sense of connection and community. The Communication Skills Center is here for Summer II ☀️

Our updated summer hours are:

Monday: 8 AM to 4 PM
Tuesday: 9 AM to 4 PM
Wednesday: 9 AM to 4 PM
Thursday: 8 AM to 4 PM

Closed Friday through Sunday.

We will continue offering in-person, virtual, and async appointments throughout the summer, so you can choose the format that works best for you. Whether you need help preparing for a presentation, organizing your ideas, practicing an interview, or building confidence as a communicator, we’re here to help.
