While many graduate students spend evenings studying in the library, Cole Clark spent his time balancing coursework with the fast-paced demands of Little Rock Baseball. For the Clarksville, Arkansas, native, earning a master’s degree in sport management at UA Little Rock meant learning both in the classroom and in the dugout.

Head coach Chris Curry said Clark played an important role behind the scenes in the program’s success.

“Cole has done an outstanding job for us working behind the scenes and doing all of the tough jobs that nobody wants to do, but an entry-level coach has to do,” Curry said. “He’s done it with a great attitude, and he’s been a huge key to our success.”

Throughout Little Rock Baseball’s last three NCAA Regional games, Angel Cano has been a steady presence in the middle of the Trojans’ lineup. In Friday’s upset of No. 9 overall seed Southern Miss, he drove in the game-tying run with an eighth-inning groundout to help spark Little Rock’s comeback.

The regional run comes just weeks after Cano earned his degree in criminal justice. The Colombian native said the opportunity to play and earn an education in the United States means everything to him and his family.

“For my family and friends back home, this is everything to them for me to be doing this, and I don’t take it for granted.”

Little Rock Baseball is headed to the Super Regional round for the first time in program history!

The Trojans continued one of the most remarkable postseason runs in college baseball Sunday night, defeating Jacksonville State 6-3 to capture the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional championship and earn a spot among the final 16 teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament.

Little Rock will learn its Super Regional destination Monday night and will face either Florida or Troy, the two teams meeting in a winner-take-all game in the Gainesville Regional.
