We invite community members, parents, and neighbors to come together, share perspectives, and actively model the lifelong value of literacy and self-reflection for our youth. Today, the National Association of University Women, Inc. celebrates the birthday and enduring legacy of our founder Mary Church Terrell, born September 23, 1863.

A trailblazing educator, writer, suffragist, and civil rights advocate, Mary Church Terrell helped lay the foundation for generations of women to lead, serve, educate, and advocate for stronger communities.

As we celebrate her life, we remain inspired by her vision and the legacy that continues through the work of NAUW today.
