Congratulations to one of our amazing faculty members Dr. Chineda Hill 🥰 so deserving and we are blessed to have you as a part of our team! 🐅❤️🩺

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT 👏🌟🏆: Congratulations to Dr. Chineda Hill ’04, who recently received AUCON’s 2026 Black Alumni Award. Given annually by the Auburn Alumni Association, the Black Alumni Awards recognize a recipient from each of Auburn’s 12 colleges for outstanding achievements in their professional lives, personal integrity, and stature and service to the university.

Dr. Hill is a professor of nursing and course coordinator for Foundations of Nursing Practice II at the University of West Alabama, where she has taught since 2012. A certified clinical nurse leader, Dr. Hill was a medical-surgical nurse from 1995 to 2010 before becoming an education coordinator at DCH Health Systems.

We are so proud of Dr. Hill and the work she has done at the bedside as well as in the classroom inspiring and encouraging future nurses.

UWA Association of Nursing Students is raising awareness this Cystic Fibrosis Month, helping the public better understand this genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system. By sharing knowledge and resources, these students are encouraging the community to recognize the signs, support those affected, and stay informed. Let’s learn, care, and breathe easier together.

Pursuing an associate degree in nursing at the University of West Alabama, Tanesha Slocum balanced service in the Army Reserve’s 828th Battalion in Livingston with full-time college—all while raising three children, welcoming a new baby and building a new marriage. Yesterday was a special day for the UWA College of Nursing family as we celebrated our Spring 2026 graduates!

Although our ASN pinning ceremony was unexpectedly impacted by inclement weather, our graduates demonstrated the true spirit of nursing—resilience, adaptability, and perseverance. Following commencement, they gathered for a meaningful, abbreviated pinning ceremony filled with pride, accomplishment, and celebration.

We are incredibly proud of our ASN and RN-BSN graduates and excited to watch the difference they will make in their communities and in the nursing profession. The future is bright, and this is just the beginning. ❤️🩺🐅
