✨Alumni Spotlight: Layci Harrison, PhD, LAT, ATC✨

From the Class of 2013 to making an impact at the Johnson Space Center, Layci’s career is a great example of where athletic training can take you!🚀

Today, she serves as a consultant for the Astronaut, Strength, Conditioning, and Rehabilitation Specialist at NASA, while also working and a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education at the University of Houston.

Layci shares how Lock Haven shaped her career, what she’s been up to recently, and her advice for student and early-career athletic trainers. Her biggest takeaway? Get involved-but find opportunities that you’re truly passionate about.

To finish off our in-service days and prepare for the heat and high demand of preseason, our 2nd year class participated in an ankle taping contest! Students were judged based on speed and appearance of their tape jobs. Fun fact: some of our students have even perfected their ankle taking to be done in less than a minute- how impressive is that!!! Our athletes will be in amazing hands this preseason! 🌟💪🏼🏥

Our MSAT professors also had their own ankle taping contest as well! We had so much fun being able to watch our leaders go back to the basics with this head-to-head competition!

As we approach fall preseason, we are ready to hit the ground running!! We would also like to remind all athletes, coaches, staff, and clinicians who will be participating to stay hydrated, fuel your bodies, and get lots of rest!! Stay tuned to see our MSAT students in action these next few weeks at their clinical sites!! ☀️🏈🔋

🎉Congratulations to our first-year MSAT students on successfully completing your summer semester!🎉

From long days in the classroom and hands-on labs to mastering new skills and building lifelong friendships, you’ve already accomplished so much in a few short weeks.

Now it’s time to take everything you’ve learning into your clinical experiences as preseason begins. We can’t wait to watch you continue to grow as future athletic trainers.

Enjoy this milestone-you’ve earned it! Here’s to an exciting semester ahead.

We’ve had so much fun these last few days welcoming back our 2nd year class and celebrating our 1st year class finishing their summer semester strong! Thank you to our professors Dr. Russell and Dr. Porter for hosting us!👏🏼

We’ve put in the work, learned a lot, and shared plenty of great moments along the way. Now it’s time to put it all into practice as we head to our clinical sites for preseason! 💪🏼🏥🏈☀️

💙August is National Wellness Month💙

As a new semester begins, many of our MSAT students are preparing to head back to the classroom, starting new clinical rotations, and jumping into the busy preseason for fall athletics. While this time of year is exciting, it can also be demanding.

As future athletic trainers, we spend so much time caring for the health and well-being of others - but it’s just as important to care for our own.

This month, remember to prioritize your mental wellness by:
💙Getting enough rest
💙Taking breaks when you need them
💙Leaning on your classmates, friends, and mentors
💙Making time for the activities that help you recharge
💙Asking for support when you need it

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish - it’s an important part of becoming the best healthcare professional you can be.

We can’t wait to see what this semester brings. Wishing all our students a healthy, successful, and balanced start to the school year!

We welcomed our LHU MSAT Class of 2028 yesterday!!! Thank you to Lock Haven’s Campus Administrator, Stephen Lee, and Health Science Department Chairperson, Dr. Eric Lippincott, to provide the official welcome to the class. The students were onboarded today by Program Director, Dr. Jody Russell, and Director of Clinical Education, Dr. Steve Streator. They then took part in the 3rd annual Amazing Race which took them around the university and town and finished with a pool party!! 📚✏️📖☀️😎

Recap of the 2026 National Athletic Training Association Symposium and Conference in Philly! Our MSAT students had a wonderful time networking with other athletic training students and certified athletic trainers, learning about new research and advancements in the profession, connecting with so many different vendors at the expo, and exploring the city! 👍🏼📚⚕️

A walk down memory lane as we celebrate these amazing MSAT students who will be walking across the stage tonight and receiving their diplomas!! 🎉

We would like to congratulate each and every one of you for this AMAZING accomplishment! It has been a pleasure to watch all of you grow into the knowledgeable, independent clinicians you have become! Now it is time for spread your wings and put everything you have learned these last 2 years to good use! You’ve worked so hard for this moment, and should be proud of how far you’ve come!
