For many students, a handball course at Utah State has been the beginning of something bigger.

Through handball courses offered on campus, students learn a new sport, build connections, and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. Over time, that interest and participation helped grow a thriving handball community, leading to the creation of an official club sport and, most recently, the Herm Olsen Endowment for Handball Excellence.

Supported by a transformational $2 million gift, the endowment will help provide future students with opportunities for coaching, instruction, recruitment, and competition while strengthening the long-term future of handball at Utah State.

This milestone reflects decades of dedication from coaches, students, supporters, and university partners who have helped build a lasting handball community on campus.

The Master of Sports Management at Utah State University is a fully online professional degree designed to prepare students for leadership roles in sport administration and management.

The program provides a comprehensive, industry-focused education in areas such as sport marketing, finance, legal issues, event and facility management, fundraising, leadership, and data analytics. Students also gain hands-on experience through a required internship and applied learning opportunities throughout the program.

Graduates are prepared to work in a wide range of sport industry careers, including athletic administration, sport marketing, operations, event management, public relations, and more.

Our department is excited to help share information about the upcoming 2026 USU Brain Health Fair, a free community event focused on lifelong brain health, healthy aging, and dementia prevention.

Hosted by the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education, Health, & Human Sciences in collaboration with Intermountain Health, the Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Research Center (ADRC), and the Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence (SCCE), the event will bring together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, and community partners for a day of education and engagement.
