To kick off October, Shelley Hayton, MAT, RDH, Chair of the Dental Hygiene program, shared a heartfelt message of gratitude with our community:

"When I think about what makes our program special, it is not the curriculum or the clinical hours, though both matter deeply. It is the people. Our faculty are the reason our students walk away not just skilled, but ready to care for people the way they deserve to be cared for... This month, as we celebrate dental hygienists everywhere, I want to start close to home and thank the faculty who make this program what it is, and the students who remind us why it matters."

Big win for dental insurance reform in California! AB 1629 has officially been signed into law, addressing critical issues around assignment of benefits and network adequacy standards for dental practices. Link in comments. 👇

Gov. Newsom has signed CDA-sponsored AB 1629! In a significant win for dental insurance reform, the legislation will require all dental plans to honor a patient’s assignment of benefits (AOB) requests, provide enhanced flexibility for dental practices and improve oversight of increasingly strained dental plan networks.

“Assignment of benefits legislation has been one of the biggest asks from CDA members, and we are thankful that lawmakers took meaningful action to address the growing inadequacy of dental plan networks,” said CDA President Robert Hanlon, DMD. “We greatly appreciate the hard work of Assemblymember Matt Haney on this issue over the past two years and we commend Gov.
