UCLA Mathias Botanical Garden

The Mathias Botanical Garden is a 7-acre public garden and event venue on the UCLA campus. Approximately 5000 species in 225 families are growing here outdoors

Located on the beautiful campus of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), this garden maintains one of the most important living botanical collections in the United States,with plant specimens from all over the world. Our seven-acre garden is frost-free and therefore can exhibit many different species of tropical and subtropical plants.

Tours meet at the La Kretz Garden Pavilion at the northern end of the Garden. 🏡

Float like a waterlily, sting like a bee.

This year, we've got a real contender on our hands or, erm, in our pond. With a diameter of just 11 inches, it’s been an upstream battle for Mildred as she attempts to prove she’s not just a big leaf in a small pond. 🏋️ 🪷

After a lifetime of training, all of Mildred’s hard work has led to a final weight of 225 kg...give or take a few grams. 🥴

This is the fourth annual event organized by the Denver Botanic Gardens.
