[포스트모던 신학과 상호문화 영성을 향한 여정: CST 실천신학 목회학 박사 여름 집중과정 마침]

클레어몬트 신학대학원(CST) 실천신학 목회학 박사(D.Min.) 프로그램 여름 집중 수업을 마쳤습니다.

지난 10일 동안 한국, 미국, 캐나다, 인도네시아, 라오스에서 23~24명의 박사과정 학생들이 실시간으로 연결되어 함께 배우고 토론했습니다.

이번 집중과정에서는 「포스트모던 신학과 목회」와 「상호문화 신학과 영성」을 중심으로, 오늘날 교회와 사회가 직면한 변화와 앞으로의 과제를 함께 성찰했습니다. 포스트모던 시대가 제기하는 질문들—거대서사의 붕괴, 권력과 배제의 문제, 공동체의 새로운 가능성—을 비판적으로 검토하고, 갈등·치유·변혁이라는 실천신학적 관점에서 목회자와 교회 공동체의 역할을 함께 모색했습니다.

또한 상호문화 신학과 영성의 관점에서 주변성(marginality), 타자의 얼굴, 상호 환대, 연대, 상생, 타자들의 공존, 동행과 같은 핵심 개념들을 탐구하며, 서로 다른 문화와 경험을 가진 사람들이 어떻게 함께 배우고 공존하며 미래의 공동체를 만들어 갈 수 있는지를 깊이 논의했습니다.

10일 동안 이어진 강의와 토론, 그리고 다양한 문화와 목회 현장의 경험을 나눈 시간은, 쉽게 답을 찾기 어려운 아포리아(aporia)와 같은 현실의 문제들을 더 깊이 이해하고 새로운 실천의 가능성을 발견하는 소중한 배움의 과정이었습니다.

국경과 문화를 넘어 함께 배우고 토론한 모든 학생들과 교수님들께 감사드립니다. 앞으로도 이러한 대화와 성찰이 더 건강한 공동체와 미래 교회를 만들어 가는 작은 밑거름이 되기를 기대합니다.

[A Journey into Postmodern Theology and Intercultural Spirituality: CST D.Min. Summer Intensive]

The Summer Intensive of the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) Program in Practical Theology at Claremont School of Theology has successfully concluded.

Over the course of ten intensive days, 23–24 doctoral students from South Korea, the United States, Canada, Indonesia, and Laos gathered in a synchronous online learning community, engaging in rigorous dialogue across cultures and contexts.

This year's intensive focused on "Postmodern Theology and Ministry" and "Intercultural Theology and Spirituality." Together, we critically examined the profound questions that postmodernity poses to the church—including the collapse of grand narratives, the dynamics of power and exclusion, and new possibilities for community—while exploring the vocation of pastors and faith communities through the lens of conflict, healing, and transformation.

Our conversations also explored key themes in intercultural theology and spirituality, including marginality, the face of the Other, mutual hospitality, solidarity, mutual flourishing, the coexistence of diverse others, and accompaniment. These concepts challenged us to imagine communities capable of embracing difference with humility, responsibility, and hope.

The lectures, discussions, and exchange of diverse ministerial experiences over these ten days were more than an academic exercise. They became a shared journey of discerning new possibilities for ministry amid the complex aporias of our time—those difficult realities that resist simple solutions.

We are deeply grateful to every student and colleague who contributed their wisdom, experience, and thoughtful engagement. May the insights cultivated through this intensive continue to inspire ministries and communities that embody thoughtful leadership, courageous dialogue, and hopeful transformation.

[세계 각지의 목회 현장을 치유와 화해로 잇다: CST 한국어 D.Min. 여름 집중수업 1주차 성료]

클레어몬트 신학대학원(CST) 실천신학 목회학 박사(D.Min.) 한국어 과정이 2026년 여름, “갈등의 치유와 회복, 그리고 변혁”이라는 거대한 시대적 과제를 안고 전 세계 목회 현장과 뜨겁게 연결되었습니다. 한국, 미국, 라오스, 캐나다, 인도네시아 등 각국에서 사역하는 종교 지도자들이 Zoom 실시간 온라인 강의로 모여 뜨거운 배움의 장을 펼친 지 어느덧 1주일, 1주차 5일간의 집중 수업을 성공적으로 마쳤습니다. 이번 과정에서는 전희천 교수의 포스트모던 신학 수업에 24명, 조혁 교수의 상호문화 신학 수업에 23명의 박사과정 학생들이 참여하여 치열하고 깊이 있는 학제간 연구를 이어가고 있습니다. 급변하는 권위주의 시대를 마주한 사역자들이 현장에서 직면한 갈등과 상처를 어떻게 목회적으로 이해하고 적용할 수 있을지, 다양성 속에서 '타자'와 어떻게 정의로운 관계를 맺어갈지 다각도로 탐구하며 활발한 토론의 꽃을 피웠습니다.

2013년부터 지금까지 총 108명의 졸업생과 실천신학 연구 프로젝트를 배출하며 현장 중심 교육의 이정표를 세워온 CST 한국어 박사과정은, 이번 여름에도 단순한 학문적 훈련을 넘어 세계의 갈등을 치유하는 살아있는 소통의 허브가 되고 있습니다. 서로 다른 문화적 배경과 사역의 자리를 가진 목회자들이 한마음으로 연대하며, 신학이 오늘의 세계에 제시할 치유와 환대의 길을 함께 모색하는 모습은 깊은 울림을 줍니다. 치열했던 사유와 은혜의 1주차를 마무리한 학생들은 이제 더 깊은 신학적 대화와 실천적 해답을 기대하며 앞으로 남은 5일간의 여정을 준비하고 있습니다. 갈등과 분열의 시대 속에서 화해와 변혁의 예언자적 역할을 감당하기 위해 땀 흘리는 전 세계 CST 목회자 신학 공동체에 따뜻한 응원과 기도를 부탁드립니다!

[Connecting Global Ministries Through Healing and Reconciliation: CST Korean D.Min. Summer Intensive Week 1 Successfully Concludes]

In the summer of 2026, the Korean Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program in Practical Theology at Claremont School of Theology (CST) has dynamically connected with ministry fields worldwide under the profound theme of “Healing, Restoration, and Transformation of Conflict.” Religious leaders serving across various countries—including South Korea, the United States, Laos, Canada, and Indonesia—gathered via Zoom for live, real-time interactive lectures, successfully wrapping up their first five days of intensive week-1 sessions. In this term, 24 doctoral students are enrolled in Professor Heecheon Jeon’s Postmodern Theologies course, while 23 students are attending Professor Hyuk Cho’s Intercultural Theology course, engaging in rigorous and deep interdisciplinary research. Facing an era of rapid change and authoritarian challenges, these ministers actively held vibrant discussions to discover how to pastorally understand and apply solutions to the conflicts and wounds they confront in their respective fields, and how to form just, responsible relationships with "the Other" amidst cultural diversity.

Having produced a total of 108 graduates and 108 practical theology research projects since 2013, the CST Korean D.Min. program continues to set a benchmark for field-centered theological education, serving as a living hub of global communication that goes far beyond simple academic training. It is deeply moving to witness pastors from such diverse cultural backgrounds and ministerial settings standing in solidarity, collectively seeking theological paths toward healing and hospitality for today's world. Concluding a first week filled with intense reflection and grace, the students are now looking forward to even deeper theological dialogues and practical answers as they prepare for the remaining five days of the journey.
