🔦 IIGH Spotlight: IIGH in Washington, D.C. for the 2026 Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Conference
Each month, IIGH shares a spotlight highlighting one of our research, policy initiatives, or student engagement opportunities.
This month, we are spotlighting IIGH’s participation at the annual CUGH Conference.
🤝 CUGH is a longstanding IIGH partner and shares our commitment to health equity.
🌐 IIGH faculty engaged at CUGH with myriad partners and participated in a range of activities. IIGH Research Director Laura Ferguson, for example, chaired the conference’s only panel on SRHR, “Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in a Time of Crisis: Supportive Laws and Policies are Necessary but not Sufficient,” with IIGH Director Sofia Gruskin serving as a panelist. The panel examined opportunities and challenges in the current geopolitical moment, highlighting issues of trust, communication, justice, and accountability while offering examples and entry points for action.
👥 IIGH Director of Policy Engagement Jonathan Cohen also joined a delegation of California-based global health scholars convened by CUGH to engage with federal policymakers, sharing perspectives on the impact of recent funding decisions, the role of universities in shaping global health, and the contributions of global health programs to the state of California.
