For Professor Nama, John Stewart has long been a case study in how superhero stories can reflect changing ideas about identity and representation.
 
In his research, Nama examines Stewart’s evolution from his early comic appearances to his growing place in popular culture. With “Lanterns” bringing him to a new audience, Nama is revisiting what has changed and what has been carried forward with the latest iteration of the character.

More opportunities for L.A. students to call LMU home.

The Marymount Education Foundation has committed $5.57 million to establish the new Marymount Scholars Program, which will help students from participating local Catholic high schools continue their education at LMU. By easing financial pressures, the program gives scholars more room to focus on their studies and find their place on campus.

The program builds on LMU’s partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and six local Catholic high schools. Together, we’re expanding access to an LMU education and helping students participate fully, from their first semester through graduation.

Students can build a strong foundation while exploring performance, choreography, education, social impact and more, all with Los Angeles as an extension of the classroom.

With a more flexible approach, LMU Dance is preparing the next generation of artists for where dance can take them.

Linda Cardellini earned her first Emmy for her performance in DTF St. Louis, and Kelly Younger was part of the Emmy-winning writing team behind The Muppet Show.
