🌴 ☀️New to LA? Here are 3 places to explore in West LA!
If you just moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and don't know where to start exploring, we've got you. In this edition, we're visiting three very different spots that offer a little taste of LA history, food, culture, and, of course, the California coast.

🏡🌎 Moving to Los Angeles for UCLA? Finding the right place to live is one of the biggest decisions you'll make, and knowing your options can make the process much easier.

UCLA offers several housing options for different student communities, including undergraduate, graduate, family, and faculty housing. If you're considering living off campus, be sure to think beyond the rent price.

Before signing a lease, remember to ask about:
📝 Lease terms and income requirements
💰 Base rent and security deposit
🛋️ Whether the apartment is furnished
📅 Contract length
💡 Which utilities are included
🚌 Nearby public transportation and commute to campus
📍 Neighborhood safety

⚠️ Always read your lease carefully before signing. If you have questions about your lease agreement, UCLA Student Legal Services may be able to help and even review your lease agreement.

🎓🌍 New international students, have you completed iSTART@UCLA?

iSTART@UCLA is a two-part mandatory virtual onboarding process for all incoming F-1 visa students at UCLA.

You can access iSTART@UCLA through the MyBruin International Portal.

Here’s what you need to complete:

1️⃣ Request your I-20 or DS-2019 from the Dashew Center.
2️⃣ Complete the iSTART Orientation.
3️⃣ Complete the Post-Arrival Status Check-In after you arrive in the U.S.

❓Are you a J-1 scholar instead?

J-1 scholars do not complete iSTART Orientation. Instead, you are required to complete:

✅ jPATH (instead of iSTART Orientation)
✅ Post-Arrival Status Check-In through the MyBruin International Portal

Be sure to complete the onboarding process as soon as it becomes available so you’re ready to begin your UCLA journey! 💙🐻
