They have put a tent over the science building at USC during the holiday break. I guess they are killing vermin. The colors for the tent are blue and gold and not what you might expect at USC, but I guess when you think of vermin . . . (OK - that was mean - I did not mean it)...the building actually looks good in stripes.

The 2014 Commencement ceremony was hot! I mean real hot. Well over 90 degrees. But it was a great event, and it was nice to be able to see so many students as they became alumni.

FIVE DEANS OF THE USC SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
The photographs

Attached below is a photo of a very young Bill Clinton shaking hands with President Kennedy. It was taken in 1963. Thirty years later, Clinton was elected President.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 6:00pm, all five of the living former Deans of the USC School of Architecture will be at Harris Hall 101 to make very brief comments about the legacy of their eras in the School.

All "FUTURE DEANS" are encouraged to come by and shake hands with the "FIVE DEANS." There will be photographers.

Unofficial USC SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE NEWS

Professor Victor Regnier has just completed a 60-page monograph entitled "USC Apartments for Life: Emeriti Center + Civic Engagement Center" that chronicles the work of his Spring 605a students in designing a mixed-use, 60-unit elderly housing project for a 2.5 acre site on the USC campus--free pdf available on request ([email protected]).

Assistant Professor Karen Kensek hosted the sixth annual BIM symposium, BIM Futures, at USC in July. Two days of talks featured other professors from around the country and innovative professionals speaking on building information modeling.

Victor Jones, assistant professor of architecture has been published in "Shaping the City: Studies in History, Theory and Urban Design," edited by Rodolphe El-Khoury and Edward Robbins. His essay entitled, 'New Orleans - Ecological Urbanism,' contemplates new forms of infrastructure for building sustainable communities.
