When you ask your mentor to be in your grad photos. 😭💛
“MJ, my UCLA Career Center counselor, has supported me through every challenge—serving as a motivator, mentor, and steady source of strength.
As a first-generation student without a clear roadmap, I was incredibly fortunate to find someone who could guide me through uncertainty and help me navigate my path.
She has pushed me to grow, to embrace discomfort, and to understand that stepping outside of my comfort zone is essential to achieving my goals.
MJ helped me realize that I don’t have to rush into a single path—my first job isn’t my last.
With that perspective, I chose to explore data analytics as a stepping stone toward my long-term goal in engineering. Through her support and the resources she introduced me to at the Career Center, I gained the confidence to take those steps.
Our relationship has helped me build the courage to challenge myself and move forward with intention.”
