Could a vaccine for one Ebola virus help fight another?
A new UCLA Fielding-led study published in The Lancet Group found that people vaccinated with ERVEBO, the vaccine licensed for Zaire ebolavirus, developed an immune response to Bundibugyo ebolavirus — the virus driving the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The findings come as ERVEBO is being incorporated into the outbreak response, with a Phase 3 clinical trial planned to determine whether the vaccine provides protection against Bundibugyo Ebola disease.
