The Spring 2023 Schedule of Classes went live on Monday, January 30th. As a reminder, enrollment for our labs (Physics 170, 180, Astr 180 labs) are done via PTE numbers only. If you are interested in enrolling in a lab course for Spring, please fill out the below Lab Interest Form. Note that filling out this form does not guarantee that you will receive a PTE number. All PTE numbers are given based on class standing and expected date of graduation.

This is a great opportunity for new and continuing students to meet our faculty and hear about their research in the various subfields of physics. To All Graduating Physics & Astronomy Seniors:

Some of you have expressed an interest in speaking at our departmental commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 12 in the Ackerman Grand Ballroom. If you are interested in being the Student Speaker representing all of our majors, please read the eligibility requirements below:

• Be in good academic standing and eligible for graduation in Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Spring 2022, Summer 2022
• Have partaken in the academic and student life of the department
• Prepare a speech of about 5 minutes in length on a theme related to commencement/graduation and pertinent to all the majors in the department

Finalists will be required to give an oral presentation of their speech and selection will be made by the Physics & Astronomy Student Services staff.

Please submit a draft of your speech by April 30, 2022 to Mary Tran at [email protected] along with a short bio telling us what you have done around the department and at UCLA. We hope to make a decision shortly after that date. Thank you.

We still have plenty of seats available in Physics M122 - Introduction to Plasma Electronics. The class meets Tuesdays & Thursdays 11am-12:15pm. M122 is an introduction to plasma physics and provides an overview of the field. Please note that this course will count as an UD elective. So please consider enrolling!
