After immigrating to the United States from the Dominican Republic, Saimon Acevedo Ortiz MD ’28 saw firsthand the challenges his family and community faced finding healthcare that understood their language and cultural needs.

Now, he aims to make healthcare more accessible for the communities he serves.

For Saimon Acevedo MD ’28, the path to medicine is personal. After immigrating from the Dominican Republic, he saw firsthand the barriers his family faced finding healthcare providers who understood their language and cultural backgrounds.

Now, he hopes to reduce those barriers and create an environment where patients feel understood and comfortable seeking care.
