Don't miss Annie Dolan's senior comprehensives documentary, "For Love of the Game," airing this Wednesday, Sept. 21 on KCET at 10 p.m. as part of the Festival of Films!

“Fine Cut Festival of Films” showcases short films from Southern California's promising young filmmakers in a series of six one-hour episodes. More than twenty years ago, Jack Larson approached KCET with the idea of creating a student film series that would provide talented students with the opportunity to have their short films aired on television. Larson thought that public television was an excellent platform for providing critical visibility to emerging filmmakers. KCET shared Larson's enthusiasm and together they created, "Fine Cut Festival of Films."

Big congrats to Annie Dolan, '22! Annie's senior comprehensives documentary, For Love of the Game, has been selected as a finalist for the 23rd Annual Fine Cut Festival of Films.

The festival is curated by the PBS SoCal student film showcase program Fine Cut, and all finalist films will be broadcast in a series of six episodes on KCET in Southern California and on Link TV nationwide. Finalists are then eligible for further awards, public screening, and mentorship.

Annie's film is part of the first night of programming thematically titled “Where Do I Fit?” airing Weds., Sept. 21 on KCET at 10 p.m. and Thurs., Sept. 22 at 11 p.m. on Link TV.

For Love of the Game features two of Annie's fellow q***r Oxy student athletes:

"As q***r people in women’s sports, Claire and Xavier reflect on their experience facing intersectional criticism and isolation on the basis of their sexuality and gender identity, and ultimately raise questions about the current state of the LGBTQ+ community in athletics."

This is the second year running that a MAC project has been selected as a Fine Cut Finalist. Last year Naomi Miyamoto's comps documentary It Wasn’t Supposed To Be This Way, mentored by Prof. Aleem Hossain, was also chosen and broadcast.

This season features a collection of short films from schools across Southern California, including, winners in the categories of Documentary, Narrative and Animation.
