Eligibility: Students affiliated with DHS Centers of Excellence (COE) through research projects, education programs, MSI Summer Research Teams and MSI Scientific Leadership Awards are eligible to participate.

Student Activities:

1. Tabletop Exercise (TTX)

This team-oriented event is intended to engage students in the dynamic process of developing strategies to mitigate and address a series of cascading events as they pertain to a hypothetical pandemic-related supply chain disruption. o Facilitator-led TTX Session: With the assistance of an appointed facilitator, student teams will be led through a discussion-based scenario exercise. Each team will consider the perspectives of DHS components agencies as they discuss and formulate their team responses to a series of scenario events.
o Report-Out: TTX participants will discuss their participation and provide a brief report-out on their team’s experience during a short panel discussion during the Summit.

2. Student Poster Competition

Students will be selected by their COE Education Representative to submit an abstract, poster and pre-recorded presentation to showcase the students’ research related to a challenge within the Homeland Security Enterprise. The intern will work directly with the team responsible for designing the concept and managing the Just Say Hello campaign. Interested interns can begin working immediately. If interns are successful in helping secure grant funding, the intern responsible for writing that specific grant proposal will receive 10% of the grant received (ex: a $100,000 grant will allow the student to receive $10,000).
