Match Made in Heaven: Ali Burke & Andrea Jemiolo 💘✨

“Andrea and I first met when we were randomly assigned as roommates in Paris freshman year. Although I was so nervous initially, we immediately clicked and have been best friends ever since. I can always rely on her easy-going spirit and positivity to get me through anything and make me smile even in the toughest times. Andrea is one of the most driven people I have ever met and inspires me everyday. She is truly my other half, and I am so lucky to have someone who can balance me out like she does. From meeting in Paris to living and going through recruitment together last year and now both living in the house this year, Andrea has truly been through it all with me. When we were going through recruitment and FaceTime after every round, I never expected we would end up in the same house, but I am so thankful we both joined Pi Phi together and get to continue sharing many more amazing memories together. I love you so much Andrea and am so lucky to have you as a lifelong friend 💗” -Ali

“I was so nervous to go to Paris my first semester freshman year, especially because I didn’t know anyone. Getting randomly assigned a roommate was definitely scary for me, but as soon as I met Ali, I knew we were going to have the best time together. We were instantly inseparable as we explored Paris and traveled around Europe. Ali has been there for me during all of our big college transitions. From living in Paris, to coming to USC as a spring admit, to going through recruitment together, and finally joining Pi Phi, Ali has been my rock through it all. She is one of the kindest, most genuine, and motivated people I know. I am so grateful for her friendship and Pi Phi for bringing us even closer together. Ali, I love you, and I cannot wait for more adventures together 💗” -Andrea

“Going through recruitment on Zoom, I had to choose a chapter based off the few girls I met from each house. I was super nervous about making a decision, especially when I had met wonderful girls in many houses. At Pi Phi, I felt like I had met people who would help me grow as an individual, and it was clear these girls had passions and ambitions that were both involved and uninvolved with the house. I realized that is really what I was looking for in a chapter. Since joining Pi Phi, I have gotten to know genuine, kind, and independent women that are truly the kind of people you want to come home to at the end of the day!” -

Today’s goes to our very own ! With it being the last day to register for recruitment, she shares her experience and how joining the Panhellenic community introduced her to girls across the row ✨

“Having studied abroad in Paris my freshman year through the Trojan Transfer Program, I met so many amazing girls that also planned to go through recruitment with me in the spring of our sophomore year. Although I had a group of girlfriends that I loved so much, we all wanted to experience the traditional recruitment process to meet new people in the community and find a second “home.” After house tours, I left Pi Phi filled with so much life. I saw myself in the house the moment I walked in. The humility and grace everyone embodies is unmatched. Since joining, I’ve continued to be surrounded by the most driven, talented, and compassionate women. Forever grateful for my Pi Phi angels!

Being a part of the Panhellenic community also means being introduced to the most incredible women both in and out your chapter. I’ve met some of my best friends over the past few years up and down the row, and now as a senior I live with 8 girls with more than half from different houses. Shoutout :) I’m going to miss everyone so much after we graduate this year ” PPL and Panhell love!! 💗💗

Meet our new VP of Inclusion, Logan!

Logan is a sophomore from New Jersey pursuing a major in Cognitive Sciences. She is also a member of the Xpressions Dance Company on campus as well as the WYSE club. As we near recruitment she says,

“DEI is important to me because as a q***r woman, I felt unsure if Greek Life would be the right fit for me. I had always heard my parents and friends talk about how much they loved being a part of Greek Life, but I wasn’t even sure if anyone would accept me for me. During the recruitment process, I realized that so many women were welcoming and supportive in ways I could never even have expected. After being in Pi Phi for a full year, I continue to feel loved and accepted by my sisters. Greek Life can be a scary heteronormative place for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, but I am lucky to have felt nothing but love and support from my sisters. I decided to take on the role of VP of Inclusion because I care so strongly about Pi Phi, the betterment of our house, and our overall community. Obviously, the Greek community is a system with many flaws, but I am hoping as the VP of Inclusion to make everyone feel more welcome and accepted throughout the recruitment process, as well as make sure everyone in our house is respected for their individual identities and educated about the history of our house. Personal and Intellectual Growth is one of our core values as Pi Phis, and I hope to help everyone to grow, improve, and educate themselves in order to be even better women in and out of the house.”

We love you Logan and can’t wait to see all you do for our chapter and community this upcoming year! 💘

Happy from everyone’s favorite angel ✨✨
“Initially I wasn’t even going to go through recruitment. However, last minute I decided to just try it. Having missed the first day, I was required to rush all 10 hours in one day. Pi Phi was my last house. Exhausted, jet lagged, and anxious, I knew it was going to be rough. However, the second I walked in, I was greeted by smiles, warm energy, and a familiarity I can’t quite explain. That’s when I knew…I didn’t have to put on a facade, and I didn’t have to try to be someone I wasn’t. Throughout my experience in Pi Phi, I have met some of my favorite people on earth, found a place to call home, and have grown so much as a young woman. Everyone I’ve met is cool and unique in their own way, and it makes me so proud to call myself a Pi Phi” We love you Lizzy!!💜💜

We’re delighted to welcome our incoming President, Christine Balian! Christine is a sophomore majoring in Global Health from Pasadena, CA ✨

“First and foremost, thank you so much to the CA Gamma Chapter of Pi Phi for welcoming me with open arms into their home and community, and providing me with a loving, supportive, and empowering environment – one that I can now call home. The relationships and interactions I have had through Pi Phi have brought so much value and love into my life. I am grateful to reciprocate what I have received and help foster an inspiring, driven, and well-rounded group of women who contribute to what makes Pi Phi so unique. Tessa will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we have all been in awe at the dedication and care she has put into her position. I am so honored to continue her legacy as the next president, and take on the responsibility to ensure all voices are heard and everyone contributes collectively to our chapter and its success. So excited for this upcoming year!”

We’re so lucky to have you and can’t wait to see the positive impact you will make on our chapter this year 💘 PPL Christine! xx
