The program of Iranian Studies at UCLA, established half a century ago, in 1963, is the largest and most comprehensive doctoral program of its kind in the Americas. The Program of Iranian Studies at UCLA, established half a century ago, in 1963, is one of the largest and most comprehensive doctoral programs of its kind in the Americas. It covers the entire spectrum of Iranian studies across disciplines, linguistic boundaries, and periods. Among its distinctive strengths is the focus on Old and Middle Iranian philology, ancient Iranian history and religions, archaeology, as well as the study of classical and modern Persian literature. In addition, courses in Judeo-Persian literature and Baha'i history and religion are regularly read in the Program.

The Yarshater Center for the Study of Iranian Literary Traditions at UCLA is privileged to continue the publication of the Bulletin of the Asia Institute beginning with Volume 32.

While the publication of the Bulletin will be ascertained by the Yarshater Center, the University of California Press shall be providing the backbone for production and distribution. All print volumes, including the back catalog, will be available for purchase on the website of UC Press. Information regarding the publication of Volume 33 and beyond shall be forthcoming from both the Yarshater Center and UC Press.

Most importantly, the Yarshater Center is committed to the dissemination of all research gratis. The Bulletin shall be published simultaneously in high-quality print format and free Open Access, available to download via the websites of UC Press and the Yarshater Center. To maximize the scholarly impact of the Bulletin for generations to come, the back catalog of volumes shall also be included in an Open Access repository.

Job Opening: Programs and Administration Coordinator

We are seeking a Programs and Administration Coordinator to serve as our events lead, as well as assist with office management. (See full job description for all details.) We are a team who relies on detail-oriented people with multiple skill sets. We are looking for an employee who can organize events and facilitate the purchasing for events and general office management. Some of what this involves includes reserving lecture halls, coordinating travel with speakers, ordering catering, setup and teardown of event spaces, and managing audio/video needs. This position is hybrid, with an expectation of on-campus work a minimum of three days a week. Some evenings, early mornings, and weekend workdays (all for events) will be required.
