⏳ 10 days until the first day of classes... who's counting? 💜💛

Today's comes from second-year pre-nursing major and Peer Mentor Nathan Escolar, and he's dropping two tips you'll definitely want to save:

🩺 Future nursing & pre-nursing students: Yes, the classes are challenging, but you've got this! Stay on top of your studying, learn what your professors expect, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Your hard work will pay off. 💪
🚗 Commuters, this one's for you: Grab a commuter meal plan! You'll save money, have one less thing to worry about between classes, and you'll have more time to hang out on campus.

Only 10 more days until your Mount era officially begins. See you soon, Athenians! ✨

The 1990s were a decade of innovation, access and community impact at the Mount.

As Los Angeles grew more diverse and educational needs evolved, the Mount responded with programs designed to expand opportunities for students across the region.

The Student Ambassador Program connected Mount students with local high schools to help future college students navigate the admissions and financial aid process—a tradition of service that continues today.

The decade also brought major investments in technology and learning. The Charles Willard Coe Library was transformed into a state-of-the-art learning center, the College launched its first website, and the Sister Magdalen Coughlin Learning Complex opened at the Doheny Campus, creating new spaces to support student success.

Starting college can feel like a lot, but you don't have to figure it out alone. 💜💛
Nursing major and Peer Mentor Lauryn Gilmore '28 has two must-know tips for incoming Athenians:

💛 Find your people. Build a support system and friendships that lift you up.

📚 Don't be afraid to talk to your professors. Ask questions, go to office hours and reach out when you need help. They genuinely want to see you succeed!

You've got this, Class of 2030. 💪 We can’t wait to welcome you on campus!

The 1980s brought a new era of global connection to the Mount.

As Los Angeles welcomed the world for the 1984 Summer Olympics, the Mount played a unique role in the historic event. The Doheny Campus served as the AT&T communications center for the Games, while both campuses housed Olympic committee members and athletes. That same year, the dedication of McIntyre Hall and Our Lady of Mercy Chapel marked another milestone in the continued growth of the Doheny Campus.

The decade also reflected the Mount's expanding global community, welcoming students from around the world and earning national recognition for its commitment to access and excellence in higher education. As the decade came to a close, acclaimed poet and memoirist Maya Angelou inspired the Mount community as the featured speaker at Horizons Day, and Sister Karen Kennelly began a new chapter as the College's 10th president.

The 1970s was a decade of expanding opportunities and inspiring new possibilities at the Mount.

As the College continued to grow, it strengthened its commitment to leadership, creativity and service. New academic and internship programs prepared students for meaningful careers, while initiatives like the Women's Leadership Program empowered generations of women to lead with confidence and purpose.

The decade also saw the opening of the Child Development Center, the founding of The Da Camera Society, and the rebuilding of the José Drudis-Biada Art Building, enriching both campus life and the broader Los Angeles community.

These snapshots capture a decade of innovation, connection and a growing vision for what the Mount could achieve.

✨ Up next: the 1980s.
