🎉 Congratulations to Gilbert Ramirez on his incredible achievement! 🎓

As a doctoral student in the UCLA Ed&IS Educational Leadership Program, Ramirez developed the Anti-Stereotype Threat Pedagogy (ASTP) intervention to counter racial and gendered stereotypes in mathematics education. His groundbreaking dissertation, “Anti-Stereotype Threat Pedagogy: A Neuroscience-Framed Approach to Closing Differential Learning Outcomes in High School Mathematics”, explores how neuroscience-based strategies can help students recognize their true math potential, boosting engagement and achievement. 🔬📚

Ramirez’s research is paving the way for a more equitable education system—one where all students can thrive. 💡✨

📖 “Hear Our Stories” – A Must-Read on Campus Sexual Violence

How can we better address campus sexual violence, especially for women of color? Associate Professor in Education at UCLA, Jessica Harris explores this urgent issue in her new book, Hear Our Stories: Campus Sexual Violence, Intersectionality, and How We Build a Better University.

Through interviews with 34 survivors across three universities, Harris sheds light on their lived experiences and calls for an intersectional approach to creating safer, more supportive campuses.

Their outstanding contributions to educational research have earned them this prestigious recognition from the American Educational Research Association. Professor Santibañez’s work focuses on understanding and improving teaching and learning for low-income, English learner classified, and other vulnerable student populations in the United States, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Professor Gomez’s scholarship focuses on helping to support community formation in schools and other organizations so that they can collaboratively create new approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment.

📚 Thuy Vo Dang, UCLA assistant professor of information studies, has been awarded the 2024-25 Society of Hellman Fellows Award and a social impact grant from the UCLA Center for Community Engagement. These awards support her research on the British Vietnamese diaspora through community archiving and oral history.

With her project, “Vietnamese Diaspora in the UK: Oral History and Archival Reciprocity for Community Archives,” Vo Dang will work with the An Viet Foundation archives—the largest known collection of Vietnamese diaspora records in the UK—advising on the description and activation of these historic materials housed at the Hackney Archives in East London.
