Pepperdine GSEP SEC students participated in this year’s Social Enterprise Collective in Los Angeles, joining leaders from nonprofit, business, government, and media sectors for a day of discussion and connection.

A key part of the event was the SEC Fast Pitch competition, where three MA in Social Entrepreneurship and Change finalists presented ventures focused on mental health support, survivor resources, and community-centered innovation.

Experiences like this demonstrate how the SEC program connects classroom learning with real-world impact by engaging directly with professionals across fields.

Yesterday, we celebrated the Pepperdine GSEP Psychology Class of 2026 as graduates crossed the stage in Malibu surrounded by family, friends, faculty, and community. 🎓✨

On this Mother’s Day weekend, we also honor the mothers cheering from the audience and the mothers proudly crossing the stage themselves. 💙💐

Beverly Wertheimer, adjunct faculty member at Pepperdine GSEP, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Adjunct Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.
Recognized for her commitment to student learning and her ability to engage and challenge students, her teaching continues to shape the next generation of psychology professionals.

Reyna G. García Ramos, professor of education at Pepperdine GSEP, has been elected vice president of the California Council on Teacher Education (CCTE), helping shape the future of teacher preparation at both the state and national levels.

GSEP is pleased to recognize Nataliane Martins as the 2026 recipient of the Dr. David A. Levy Scholarship for Excellence in Critical Thinking. Established by GSEP professor David A. Levy, the scholarship supports graduate students in psychology who show strong analytical reasoning, careful evaluation of evidence, and sound judgment in their academic and professional work. Nataliane has been awarded $3,000 in recognition of her essay on the role of critical thinking in both academic and real-world settings.
