Undergraduate students experience close interactions with the faculty as a result of small class sizes. Students conduct sophisticated state-of-the-art research by working very closely with their

☀️ Summer 2026 Research Spotlight

Dayyan Chaudhri '28, a computer science major, spent the summer working alongside Professor Delaram Yazdansepas researching how wearable sensors and machine learning can improve health tracking technology.

By analyzing data from wearable devices, Dayyan explored how different methods for measuring physical activity can produce different results, helping researchers develop more reliable and accessible health tools.

Through Seaver College's summer research program, Dayyan gained hands-on experience in data analysis, machine learning, and presenting research to both academic and professional audiences.

🐦 A birds-eye view of summer at LMU.

From western bluebirds and hooded orioles to great horned owls, our feathered neighbors have been busy raising the next generation across campus. Their success is a reminder that LMU isn't just a beautiful place to learn. It's a thriving habitat that supports local wildlife and biodiversity.

“It’s so much fun to have such a birdy campus,” said Lisa Fimiani, with the LMU Center for Urban Resilience, who shared the images and updates. “Besides being great eye candy, they contribute to a healthy planet.”

Lisa is the Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation Environmental Fellow with CURes.

☀️ Summer 2026 Research Spotlight

Faith Brooks '28, a biology major, spent the summer working alongside Professor Cory Evans studying a tumor-related genetic mutation in fruit flies.

Because many fruit fly genes have human counterparts, researchers use them to better understand genetics, disease, and human health.

Through Seaver's summer research community, Faith gained hands-on experience with microscopy and genetic mapping while contributing to ongoing genetics research.
