The 2026 New Wight Biennial opening in September 2026 at UCLA, curated by ,  and .f.austin,  will feature artists worldwide who are currently pursuing advanced education in art practice. We are seeking applicants engaged in a range of educational pursuits including MFA programs, apprenticeships, long term residencies and fellowships, craft/technical programs, and informal modes of study. Artists in advanced educational programs not listed here are encouraged to apply. Submissions are free of charge.

Submission requirements 1-5 works, 200 word artist statement.

Theme: Global Fugitivty. Over the past two decades, the concept of fugitivity has influenced countless curators and artists. We understand fugitivity–with the help of Black scholars including Saidiya Hartman, Fred Moten, and Stefano Harney and others–as movement toward freedom carried out by those working within or alongside structures of oppression.

Yummy Bowl is almost here!!! 🍲✨

Join us next Thursday, May 21st, for our much-anticipated annual Yummy Bowl Benefit — a campus-wide collaboration uniting students, faculty, and staff to help combat food insecurity at UCLA. By purchasing a handmade ceramic bowl, you directly support the UCLA Community Programs Office (CPO) Food Closet and help ensure every Bruin has access to essential resources and nourishment.

Now in its fifth year, the event celebrates the power of art as a tool for social change — bringing together community and care through the beauty of ceramics.

Each bowl is a one-of-a-kind piece made by student artists in the UCLA Department of Art Ceramics Lab.
If preorder bowls sell out online, there will still be bowls available for purchase on the day of the event.

Donation + preorder link in bio!
