In a display of cohort support 2nd year MFA candidate Iris Almaraz (r) attended the screening of 'Fishy', written/directed/produced by Nicole de Meneses, her cohort colleague, at the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival last weekend. 'Fishy' tells the story of a lonely marine biologist who falls for a kinky mermaid with a foot fe**sh. The film is distributed on OML.TV available to view for free at the link below.

Thanks to current Graduate Assistants Kim and Jennifer for organizing our 2nd LA MFA MeetUp which gathered nearly 20 locals at the Alcove in Los Feliz. Stephens MFA-alums took up the whole patio and stayed in conversation as night fell and we forgot it can be cold in LA in April! We were having so much fun no one wanted to leave. New friendships formed between people who graduated in 2018 and 2024, and between natives of LA and the most recent arrivals-- since friendraising is always the goal, it was a splendid success.
