In the next Journal Club—on Monday, October 12, we examine a multicenter randomized clinical trial comparing conservative and liberal oxygen strategies in more than 1,800 unresponsive adults following cardiac arrest. After return of spontaneous circulation, how much is enough? Could limiting oxygen exposure reduce reperfusion injury and improve recovery, or does a more conservative approach introduce risks of its own? Investigators looked beyond simply achieving ROSC or surviving hospitalization, examining favorable functional outcomes at 180 days.

Congratulations, Dr. Nicole Hansen! Dr. Hansen received the Best Educational Research Award during the Prehospital Care Research Forum awards at the 2026 EMS World EXPO & International Scientific EMS Symposium.

Her award-winning research, “Time, Work, and Tuition: Modifiable Barriers to EMS Educational Progression in a National Survey,” explores barriers that can affect educational advancement in EMS.
