Their dedication, sacrifice, and service to others continue to inspire the EMS community and all who follow in their footsteps. At the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care, the legacies of medics Derrick Schiller, Ryan Sorek, and Mitch Sekine continue through scholarships supporting future Paramedic students. The workshop matches participants with clinical mentors, methodologists, and statisticians to accelerate EMS research with the goal of improving community health and safety through the power of data. During the three-day intensive workshop, participants will learn the basics of EMS research, refine research ideas to assure that the question/goal is clear, explore required data elements to determine viability and define the data query.
