What does it take to pitch an idea to a room of industry professionals? The Netflix x Otis Access cohort put that question into practice during a recent visit to Anomaly’s LA office.

Students worked in four teams to develop presentations about the Access Program, tailoring their pitches to Netflix, agencies, future students, and the general public. With guidance from Anomaly mentors, they refined their ideas, presented to a live audience, and practiced receiving feedback. The day also included workshops and networking with professionals from Anomaly, Netflix, and agency partners.

Thank you to Neisha Tweed Bell for organizing the opportunity and guiding student presentations, and to Jennie Peters and the Anomaly team for hosting a day that helped prepare students for their capstones and apprenticeships!

Betye Saar’s legacy is woven into the history of Otis College and the work of generations of artists.

Saar taught at Otis in the 1970s and 1980s and received an honorary doctorate from the College in 1992. In a new reflection, Fine Arts Chair Meg Cranston honors her extraordinary influence as an artist, teacher, and storyteller.

For Otis College faculty member Cole M. James, teaching visual development is more than composition, color, and shot language. It’s also about helping students move beyond familiar references to discover ideas of their own.

A new large-scale work by artist and Otis College Trustee Enrique Martínez Celaya is taking center stage at LA Opera.

Commissioned for LA Opera’s 2026–27 season, The Things We Know transforms the approximately 70-foot-wide curtain of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion into a work of art that changes as it rises, moving from an intimate scene into a field of stars, flowers, and fractured light.

Congratulations to Martínez Celaya on this extraordinary addition to Los Angeles’s cultural landscape.
