At Pacific Title Archives, we get asked one question more than any other: "Why should I archive my collection?"

Here's the truth:
🎞️ Film decays. "Vinegar syndrome" turns acetate film brittle and releases a contagious acid that can destroy entire collections.
📼 Tape degrades. Magnetic tape loses its signal over time. Heat and humidity accelerate the process.
💾 Hard drives fail. Digital storage isn't permanent. Hard drives fail, formats become obsolete, and files become unreadable.

The good news? Preservation isn't complicated it just requires expertise. Pacific Title Archives has been safeguarding irreplaceable assets for nearly a century. We combine climate-controlled environments, archivist-led care, and discreet service so your collections remain protected, trackable, and accessible.

We help clients move responsibly from analog to secure digital access without losing provenance, context, or control.

The bottom line: If you don't archive it, you risk losing it. Forever.

Not sure what you have or what it needs? We offer a free, no-obligation archive risk assessment that provides clarity, expert guidance, and a personalized roadmap for long-term care. 👉 www.pacifictitlearchives.com

Pacific Title Archives is a family-owned archival company, and we've been caring for irreplaceable collections since 1935, and providing archival storage since 1978.

When collections pass to someone new, four things usually need to happen.

1. Intake - everything is documented and tracked, so you know exactly what exists and where it is.
2. Stabilization - anything fragile or deteriorating is rehoused in archival enclosures to stop further damage.
3. Digitization planning - you decide what gets scanned or transferred, and to what standard.
4. Long-term stewardship - it's catalogued and stored properly, and you can get to it when you want it.

If you're holding something and you're not sure where to begin, that's the normal starting point. The first conversation is free. Contact us: (818) 760-4223 | [email protected]

Pacific Title Archives provides secure archival storage for the irreplaceable collections of studios, estates, and private collectors. These collections include film, photographs, audio recordings, artwork, documents, costumes, props, memorabilia and other cultural assets.

Garments are harder to store well than most people expect. A closet does whatever the building does. A storage unit does whatever the weather does. Neither is monitored, and neither keeps a record of what's inside.

Archival storage holds conditions steady, keeps handling deliberate and documented, and catalogues everything so you can find one piece without opening twenty boxes.

Whether it's a fashion house archive, a designer's early work, or a wardrobe a family inherited, the free collection assessment is thirty minutes with an archivist, no obligation. Visit our website (www.pacifictitlearhicves.com) or call us (818-239-1961) for more information.

Trust isn't given lightly. Every time a client places their irreplaceable collection in our hands, we're reminded of the privilege and responsibility that comes with it. Here's one of those moments that makes us proud.

Digitization is not the end of an archive. It's a transfer of responsibility.

PTA provides preservation grade and access level digitization of film, video, audio, photographs, and documents — including migration of obsolete or at-risk media formats, and delivery of organized, quality checked digital files.

The point is to move responsibly from analog formats to secure, organized digital access, without losing provenance, context, or control.

A question we get a lot: is my collection the sort of thing you handle?

PTA provides climate-controlled storage for film, video, audio, paper, photography, artwork, textiles, collectibles, and valuables — within facilities built for long term preservation.

That covers a reel of 8mm or 16mm film from a grandparent's wedding, a box of letters, a shelf of photo albums, a wardrobe of couture, a set of paintings, and a hard drive nobody's opened since 2009.

Size isn't the qualifier. Fragility and irreplaceability are.

If you're unsure, ask. Schedule Your Complimentary Collection Assessment, and will tell you whether you need us at all.
