Adult Education and Literacy Day is a day to celebrate the importance of adult education and literacy. On this day, we recognize the many ways that adult education and literacy programs help people to improve their lives and reach their full potential.
Adult Education and Literacy Day will be held at the Roundhouse on February 10th from 8am to 1pm.
The event will feature a number of activities, including recognition the Outstanding Students of the Year from around New Mexico, remarks from Adult Education State Director Amber Gallup and NMAEA Executive Director Jamie Trujillo, a speech from Student Speaker & Learner of the Year Leah Ellis, recognition of legislative supporters of adult and higher education, reading of the Adult Education and Literacy Day Proclamation, a group photo. Outstanding Students will experience visits to the House and Senate Galleries to hear Proclamations read, acknowledgement of Students of the Year on the House and Senate floors, and tours of the Roundhouse and delivery of letters to legislators’ offices. This is a great opportunity to learn more about adult education and literacy programs and to show your support for these important programs.
For students that are traveling via the Railrunner: the Northbound train is #506 and the Southbound train is #513 (leaves Santa Fe at 1:02 pm) or #515 (leaves Santa Fe at 2:46 pm).
