Dr. Cotton Seiler, Professor of American Studies at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, will deliver a lecture entitled, “Race, Infrastructure, and the Future,” exploring how theories of race and human evolution have shaped public infrastructure in the United States.

Focusing on the New Deal and the era of desegregation following Brown v. Board of Education, Seiler examines how ideas about different populations influenced access to sanitation, education, energy, recreation, transportation, and other essential services.

His interdisciplinary work spans U.S. cultural and intellectual history, race, feminist and political theory, and infrastructure humanities. He is author of the new book, White Care: The Impact of Race on American Infrastructure (Chicago, 2026). Wednesday, September 30, at 4:00 p.m. in SRB 139.

Students, be sure to get the FREE tool for helping students stay on top of their assignments and due dates for all their courses. The Due Gooder app provides an array of important features to help students stay organized, tackle assignments on time, and leverage study tools that will augment their out-of-class preparation.
