Kudos to Farin Binta Zahir on their first conference paper acceptance!

Farin Binta Zahir, a first-year PhD student in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Louisville, developed the paper “Navigating Between Policy and Practice: Examining ICT Curriculum Implementation in Bangladesh” as a final project for the Curriculum Theory course taught by Dr. Thomas Tretter in Spring 2026. The paper has been selected for presentation at the 2026 New York Conference on Asian Studies (NYCAS) at Vassar College on October 23–24, 2026. NYCAS is one of the oldest regional Asian Studies conferences in the United States and is affiliated with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS). The paper examines the gap between Bangladesh’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) curriculum policies and their implementation in schools, focusing on how infrastructure, teacher preparation, and school contexts shape ICT education.

Congratulations to the inaugural cohort of the Cardinal Academy for Compassionate Leaders. Ahmad Washington and colleagues from around the university came together over the past six months to grow as leaders in strategy and operations as well as in the deeper work of leading with compassion, self-awareness and intention. Grounded in the Muhammad Ali Compassion Index, this cohort explored what it means to build departments — and a university — where people can do their best work because they feel genuinely supported doing it.
