“Everybody, every professor I had, they all challenged me emotionally, mentally,” he states. “It's just been an incredible journey at UofL. It's like no other.”

Stories like Jamoa's is why we do what we do.

Shout out to the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and the UofL Theatre Arts department for being a big part of his UofL journey as well!

What does it mean to pursue justice? For Criminal Justice major Jamoa Wooten, it starts with truth.

Inspired by the legacy of his great-grandfather, Lacy Mitchell—who lost his life after courageously telling the truth—Jamoa returned to college with a purpose: earn his degree in Criminal Justice and prepare for law school, where he hopes to become a voice for others.

At UofL, he found something just as important: a community of faculty, mentors and classmates who challenged him, supported him and helped him see what was possible.

“It’s just been an incredible journey at UofL. It’s like no other.”

For future Cardinals, Jamoa has a message: take a chance on yourself. ❤️🖤

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table today during the University of Louisville College of Arts & Sciences Open House! And a special thank you to Dr. Katie Hughes-Taylor for snapping a photo before the festivities began. She reports they were VERY busy at the CJ table and had a great time. :)

It's always a bit bittersweet when summer comes to an end and the semester starts back up, but we're ready to get things rolling! Enjoy the weekend -- we'll see you on Monday, Cards!
