EXPANDING CANCER CARE | Construction is complete on the UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center at South Hospital in Bullitt County, providing much-needed resources for individuals facing cancer in rural Kentucky.

This regional cancer center—which is also home to the University of Louisville’s new Center for Rural Cancer Education and Research—will increase access to comprehensive cancer care in South, Central and Western Kentucky.

The 26,440-square-foot facility features 16 private dual-purpose infusion and exam rooms, a Patient Resource Center, on-site lab, oncology pharmacy, research lab and offices, clinical trials, and more. 🔗 ULHealth.co/4gA6Lom

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences has awarded $11.6 million to the University of Louisville to increase research in nutrition and metabolic health through a five-year Center of Biomedical Research Excellence grant. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding will help launch the Nutrition and Metabolic Health Center.

“Increasing our understanding of how nutrition and metabolism affect human health is essential to tackle the most pressing health challenges of our time,” said University of Louisville President Gerry Bradley. “In addition to the federal funds, the university has committed $7.25 million to this broad and ambitious center. This endeavor promises to cultivate a cohort of future research leaders whose work will advance health and wellbeing in Kentucky and beyond for generations to come.”

Chronic health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease and metabolic liver disease have sharply increased in recent decades and are among the most urgent health challenges facing our society. UofL will amplify research to address these challenges disproportionately affecting residents of Kentucky, which ranks 43rd in health among U.S. states.
