Melody Ucho, doctoral candidate in the Dept. of Health Management and Systems Sciences, recently published, "Clinical and healthcare systems-level interventions for postpartum hemorrhage prevention and management in Nigeria: a systematic review of effectiveness and implementation outcomes" in the Frontiers in Health Services.

This systematic review examined 31 studies on interventions to prevent and manage postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in Nigeria, and found there were gaps in implementation research as well as limited evidence on patient perspectives, primary-level care settings and regions with the highest PPH mortality. The review concluded that these gaps may limit the effective scale-up of proven interventions across the country and weaken efforts to reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria and provided recommendations to address these gaps.
