The University of Louisville Horn studio hosts a dynamic mix of majors of that are and continue to be active professional performers, composers, and educators in their fields. Students engage in weekly studio, performance, horn choir, and application-based classes such as horn pedagogy, literature, excerpt class, and practice techniques. Yearly, the horn studio hosts two studio recitals consisting
of solo works and horn choir and are frequent guests in the Beth Boehm Concert Series. Graduates have attended prestigious schools such as Eastman, Indiana University, and Rice University, become staple educators in their communities, secured full time residencies in the Creators Corps with the Louisville Orchestra, and have sat on board of the board of the organization. Passionate about equal education and opportunities, our horns engage with studio education majors who are guest conductors in the horn choir and premier works regularly. Students’ part assignments rotate frequently, navigating registers, styles, and music by composers from all walks of life.
