Join the ABI in our Open House tour "Reading is Radical" to look at the Braden book collection. Get hands-on interaction as you learn about the history of these books and what we have been doing to care for them. Also help us brainstorm ideas about how we all can use them. Drop-in anytime between 1PM-3PM on the second floor of the Ekstorm Library TODAY!

ABI is co-sponsoring an event with the Speed Art Museum at Speed Cinema!

Speed Cinema will be screening "WTO/99" directed by Ian Bell. There will be a post-screening community conversation moderated by Angela D. Storey, Director of the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research at the University of Louisville.

Tickets are $12 or $8 for Speed members. Moving screening will be Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 1:00PM-2:40PM at the Speed Art Museum.

THE DEADLINE IS QUICKLY APPROACHING!!! Don't forget to submit your essay!!!

The UofL’s Anne Braden Institute sponsors an annual award to recognize exceptional essay work completed by UofL students about social justice topics. Currently enrolled undergrad and grad students from any discipline or college at UofL are welcome to enter your work!

- Submissions are due Thurs., April 23rd.
- Best undergrad submission gets $250
- Best grad submission gets $500
- Paper must be 8-25 pages in length (not including reference pages), 12-point, double-spaced text.
- Submissions must engage clearly with one or more social justice topics.
