Congratulations to Dr. Mathilda Shepard on the publication of her article, “Weapons of Mass Instruction: Eduardo Verástegui, Sound of Freedom (2023), and the New Right in Mexico” in the Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies!

Dr. Shepard’s research examines the rise of Latin American filmmakers, production companies, and streaming platforms aligned with new far-right movements—through the case of Sound of Freedom (2023), the sex-trafficking thriller produced by Mexican far-right activist Eduardo Verástegui and promoted by world leaders including Donald Trump, Javier Milei, and Giorgia Meloni.

Huge congratulations to Callie Beal and Dr. Paola Guerrero-Rodriguez on the publication of their article, “Strengths and Challenges of College-Enrolled Spanish Heritage Speakers: A Developmental Assets Approach” in Applied Developmental Science (Volume 30, 2026)!
