This week, as Opportunity Days brings students, alumni, and employers together and we celebrate 40 years of the School of Financial Planning, we're taking a moment to recognize someone who helped build so much of what this program has become: Dr. Dottie Durband.
In 2001, Durband co-founded Red to Black, one of the first peer-to-peer financial counseling programs in the country—a model that's since inspired similar programs nationwide.
Her influence runs even deeper: she built a curriculum on empathy, communication, and technical skill that has shaped a generation of financial planners.
