It is the midnight hour, and our President, Scott McDowell, is anchoring day 2 of the 24-Hour Reading Marathon. We are thankful for his leadership and investment in our student's lives and in our department's events.

We are close to the midnight hour, and readers have taken us through the twilight hours as we have sojourned through Tolkien's story of friendship, power, and hope.

President McDowell will read at midnight, and then we will head into the morning hours as we anticipate the redemptive conclusion in Middle-Earth.

As he has for the last 17 years, Dr. Jesse Long (Biblical Studies) kicked off our 24-Hour Reading Marathon and Writing Carnival today at 11:30. 47 additional readers will each read for 30 minutes throughout the day and night as we travel through Mordor and The Lord of the Rings series.

The Fellowship rides again!

It has been five years since we last journeyed to Middle Earth during our 24-Hour Reading Marathon and Writing Carnival; join us as we return to the Shire for two full days (and nights) of reading, writing, and fellowship in our 17th Annual event.

Two weeks down, and the Humanities Department/the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is off to a RUNNING start!

We kicked things off with "Donuts with Dr. Fehr," an all-department meet-and-greet with our majors and our faculty, previewing our Fall calendar of events—we have lots of interesting things planned.

Our University Writing Center student consultants spent time training for another year of helping Chaps become stronger writers and better communicators.

We watched our majors settle into move-in day, embrace meaningful chapel experiences together, and closed it all out with some good old-fashioned fun at the Get Busy Bash!

Here's to a semester full of learning experiences and community; when we say "we walk with you," we mean it.

Melanie Whiting, Lubbock Christian High School dual credit English teacher also teaches evening and online classes for LCU. Her work with her English students following up the reading of bestseller Theo of Golden gives these students an amazing experience. We’re proud of Mrs. Whiting!

Our LCU campus extends each fall to Avila, Spain. Students and professors started their second week of classes today, and they are off to a great start.

We are off to a great start! We officially "opened" the academic year in chapel today, and our new Dean introduced our faculty, new and returning.
