Today’s is Paige Rollins! Rollins is an Advertising major with a minor in Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management from Lubbock, Texas.
She is a member of the Tech Advertising Federation (TAF) and the Bullet Advertising Team (Bullet Ad). Rollins chose the College of Media & Communication because she wanted to major in something that would bring out her creative side while also developing skills to prepare her for a career. She also works as a content creator for Hospitality Services, where she gains advertising experience by highlighting Texas Tech’s on-campus dining options. Her leadership role on the Bullet Ad team has also given her an opportunity to grow outside the classroom.
One of Rollins’ most memorable experiences in CoMC was last spring break, when she finalized her campaign for the NFL with the Bullet Ad team. Rollins credits Dr. Shannon Bichard for helping her discover her passion for advertising. At first, she had no idea what she wanted to major in. But after Dr. Bichard gave her a tour of the Bullet Ad room, she knew advertising was her calling.
“I see advertising shaping my future in many ways. It gives me the creative and strategic skills I need to make in this industry,” she said.
Rollins also credits CoMC with helping her grow both professionally and personally. Through the variety of classes and projects she has done, she has learned how to communicate professionally, work with a team, meet deadlines, and create content tailored to different audiences.
In five years, Rollins sees herself working at an advertising firm or an in-house advertising role in the Dallas area. Ultimately, her goal is to have a career that excites her professionally while also creating a life she is proud of outside of work.
