**UPDATE: Due to weather, event location moved to the AC Conference Center**

Tomorrow is the day, Lufkin!

The Fitness Court opens Wednesday, September 2 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony behind the Angelina College Activity Center. It's free, open to the public (ages 14+), and built for every fitness level, thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and National Fitness Campaign.

Come see what we built for this community. We will see you there!

The reception is almost here.

Join us Tuesday, September 1 at 6 p.m. in the ACA Gallery for a free reception and artist discussion with Dario Salvatore Bucheli, the artist behind "Out of the Shadows." AC students and recent graduates who helped bring the main mural to life will also be recognized that evening.

The exhibition runs through September 10. Free and open to the public.

Attention, Roadrunners. September 2 is the priority deadline to submit your financial aid forms.

Meeting this deadline means you are first in line for refund checks. Missing it could mean waiting longer to see that money.

August at AC, continued.

If you missed part one, scroll back. Here is everything else that happened this month:

VPA Scholarship Signing Day: Nine new students signed scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year in Visual and Performing Arts, joining the 20 who signed back in April. Welcome to the family.

A new program launches: Thanks in part to funding from the THECB's TRUE Grant, AC officially launched its new Electrical Lineworker Program, preparing students for careers in the high-demand electrical utility industry.

19th Annual Guy Davis Golf Tournament: Golfers gathered at Crown Colony Country Club to support AC Athletics through the annual Guy Davis Golf Tournament. During Friday's Welcome Banquet, the college paid tribute to Guy Davis, who began his career at AC 50 years ago in 1976.

NPLC awards and new schedule: The Nonprofit Leadership Center at AC awarded completion certificates to seven recipients and released its full 2026-2027 course schedule. Visit angelina.edu to learn more about upcoming sessions.

Roadrunner Market has a new home: The Roadrunner Market has moved to the Snack Bar, a more central and easy-to-find location on campus. Stop by and see what is available.

AC in the community: We were honored to join Cleveland High School for their first-ever Senior Sunrise, celebrating the Class of 2027 on their last first day. We showed up with AC gear, information, and a whole lot of excitement for what is ahead for these students.

This campus comes alive in August. And we would not have it any other way. Keep up with the latest at angelina.edu/news.

August at Angelina College feels like a deep breath and a running start all at once.
The parking lots filled back up. The hallways got loud again. And just like that, one of the best months on this campus reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

Here is everything that happened:

Fall semester is officially underway: President Dr. Michael Simon launched the 2026-2027 academic year at Convocation, where he presented an Honorary Service Award to the Honorable Judge David Walker, a founding member of AC who has served the college since its inception in 1968.

Recognizing our own: At the Awards Luncheon, AC honored staff and faculty with service and individual awards. It is one of our favorite traditions and this year did not disappoint.

50 new nurses: AC's Nursing program celebrated 50 graduates at this year's pinning ceremony. The college also honored Patricia Hooks, who retired after 43 years in nursing, including 14 as an AC instructor. What a legacy.

Lady Roadrunners make history: The AC women's basketball team earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Academic Team, the first time in program history. Several players also earned individual honors on the list.

Soccer season is here: The Roadrunners and Lady Roadrunners are on the pitch. Visit angelinaathletics.com for schedules and updates.

There is more where that came from. Stay tuned for part two. Keep up with the latest at angelina.edu/news.

Angelina College just made it easier to get moving!

We have partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and to bring a free outdoor Fitness Court to our campus. Located behind the Activity Center, the Fitness Court features seven exercise stations designed for adults of all fitness levels and abilities, ages 14 and up. No equipment, no membership, no cost.

Come celebrate the grand opening on Wednesday, September 2 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Try out the court, see how it works, and be among the first to experience this new resource built for our campus and our community.

Building the Next Generation of Texas Forestry Professionals! 🌲

This week, Texas Forestry Association members and forestry industry representatives joined Angelina College for a Forestry Technology Advisory Committee meeting focused on developing new pathways into forestry careers.

The group is exploring a new forestry certification and two-year Forestry Technician program designed around the skills employers need in today’s forest sector.

Education + industry = a stronger forestry workforce for East Texas and beyond!
