Phi Delta Theta (ΦΔΘ), also known as Phi Delt, is an international fraternity founded at Miami University in 1848 and headquartered in Oxford, Ohio. The Virginia Theta Chapter was formed in the early 1990s and was finally brought on campus in 1993. Phi Delta Theta, along with Alpha Chi Omega and Kappa Delta, are considered to be the beginning of Greek Life at Lynchburg College as we know it today.
Today, over 200 men have been initiated into Phi Delta Theta at Lynchburg College. These members have prided themselves on their academic rigors, athletic success, and amazing leadership abilities. Also, each Brother takes pride in his membership in the exclusive Fraternity of Phi Delta Theta. You can see the letters of Phi Delta Theta displayed on the Chapter House, 350 Vernon, at the very end of Greek Row. The Virginia Theta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta includes a total of 25 men, not including pledging members. The tight-knit bond that each of us shares has been spoken of throughout the chapter's history and is still very present today. LC Phis are lucky to have Dr. Steve Smith, a Lynchburg College professor and Phi from Arizona State university, as an advisor of the Fraternity. His extensive knowledge and experience along with his unending support helps to make the Virginia Theta Chapter strive in all ways to improve every day. It is no doubt that much of Phi Delta Theta's success at LC is due to this man. Phis at LC continue to be the leading competitor in athletics amongst Greeks. Also, their leadership skills have gained them respect across the campus with both faculty and students. Brother of the Virginia Theta chapter can be seen across campus as PASS leaders, Enrolled Student Ambassadors, Connection Leaders, and RA's. Furthermore, the academic standard of which Phis hold themselves to has not deviated, and Phis continue to have GPAs above the all-men's standard at Lynchburg College.
