Ancient Drama in Performance VIII Conference

Ancient Drama in Performance VIII Conference Ancient Drama in Performance VII: A Conference on Theory and Practice The conference will feature keynote addresses by Frederick Ahl and Helen Eastman.

The Center for Ancient Drama at Randolph College is pleased to announce its third biannual conference on Ancient Drama in Performance. We encourage all practitioners and all scholars of ancient drama to attend, whether or not performance issues have ever been part of their work. For those who do involve performance in their scholarship, the meeting will be an opportunity to use our Greek theatre t

o test their own theories about how the ancients practiced drama. For those who have not made performance a factor, it will be an chance to discover the large and small ways that practical questions of theatre inform and enrich the philological and literary study of plays. We will also share research and scholarship in a context that insists on the play as an experience.

**Abstract Deadline Extended to June 1**

We're still hopeful about meeting in October.

We also understand how taxed people's energies have been for the last six weeks just getting through what's happening now. We hope that now that semesters are ending you'll be able to think a little about the future and send us your ideas.

In an abundance of optimism about our being able to gather in October, but also acknowledging the challenges posed to everyone in the last six weeks, we are happy to continue to accept abstract submissions for Ancient Drama in Performance VI until June 1, 2020.
