Putting Their Land Use Skills to the Test!

Yesterday, we welcomed 186 students from 19 schools to Ann Knowles’ Hickory Grove Farm for our annual Land Use Contest!

Dr. Gruver served as our contest judge, while Dr. Andrango joined us for our fifth rotation to connect with prospective students and share more about WIU's School of Agriculture!

We also had around 15 WIU students helping make the day a success!

A huge thank you to Ann Knowles for hosting, our faculty and students for their involvement, and all the schools that participated!

Another great day of hands-on learning and agricultural education!

Alpha Gamma Rho's 34th Annual Smokin' Hog event is back October 24th!

Stop by the AGR House at 1010 N. Lafayette St. in Macomb from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for lunch or 4-6:30 p.m. for dinner. Enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, dessert and a drink!

This week, WIU was well represented at World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI! 🐄

Reese, Ryann, & Cam covered the first part of the week before Wade, Day, & Keela took over. It was a great experience, and we were excited to represent WIU in Wisconsin!

Catching up on some awesome events from this past month! 🌾

On September 18, Dr. Gruver hosted his annual Allison Farm Twilight Tour! This hands-on learning experience is something we look forward to every year, but this year was extra special with the British White cattle still on site!

The cattle have since headed home, but the Allison Farm continues to thrive and provide our students with tons of valuable, hands-on learning opportunities.

We’re thankful for experiences like these that get our Leathernecks out of the classroom and into the field!
