The WCAA serves to maintain Wesleyan’s unique heritage by strengthening the bonds of sisterhood through programs and activities that focus on lifelong connections and involvement with the College and its current students. “It meant the absolute world to me to meet the person who allowed me to go to college.”

For first-year Wesleyan student Stephenie Denton, those words capture what made our Annual Scholarship Luncheon so meaningful.

A History, Politics and Global Affairs major and recipient of the Gayle Clark ’68 Scholarship, Stephenie had the opportunity to connect with a representative of the Class of 1968 and hear stories about the Wesleyan women who came before her.

And isn't that one of the most special things about being a Wesleyan woman?

Long after graduation, our alumnae continue finding ways to support the women who follow in their footsteps. Through scholarships, mentorship and a willingness to give back, YOU are helping today's students experience the same sense of belonging and opportunity that has connected Wesleyan women for generations.

Our Annual Scholarship Luncheon is a chance to celebrate those connections, bringing scholarship recipients together with the donors, alumnae and friends whose generosity makes their education possible.

Today, we celebrated the extraordinary legacy of Arline Atkins Finch ’56 and her husband, Ronald, with the dedication of the Arline Atkins ’56 and Ronald A. Finch, Jr. Residential Quadrangle.

For Arline, Wesleyan was a lifelong connection that began when she arrived on campus as a first-year student in 1952. She became a student leader and athlete, later returned to teach English and served on the College's Board of Trustees. Alongside Ron, she remained a devoted supporter of Wesleyan throughout her life.

The Finches' historic estate gift of more than $8.6 million - the largest bequest in Wesleyan's history - will support scholarships, the transformation of Porter Gymnasium and opportunities for generations of Wesleyan women.

During today's dedication, President Meaghan Blight shared words that beautifully capture the legacy the Finches leave behind: "May their story remind us that a life well lived is measured not only by what we accomplish for ourselves, but also what we make possible for others."

For the Wesleyan women who knew Arline as a classmate, professor, trustee or friend, today's dedication is a particularly meaningful reminder of the difference one Wesleyan woman can make. And, for the generations who will follow, her name will remain part of the place she loved!

Last night, Wesleyan's Leadership Lab kicked off its annual Women's Health Series with Leading with Heart: A Conversation on Breast Cancer Crisis and Care, bringing healthcare professionals and advocates together for a discussion about breast cancer awareness, treatment options and the importance of community support.

And helping lead that conversation was one of our very own Wesleyan women! Cyndey Busbee ’92, a current member of Wesleyan's Board of Trustees and Vice President of Governance and Organizational Affairs for Atrium Health 's Georgia Area, served as moderator for the evening's discussion.

Joining her were panelists Laura Paxton, Co-Founder and Executive Director of United in Pink; Morgan Adams, FNP-C, Nurse Practitioner at The Lookshop Aesthetics ; and Dr. Taylor W. McLendon of Renaissance Plastic Surgery

Together, they reinforced an important message: Every woman deserves to understand her options, know what resources are available and have a voice in her own care.

Today, we gathered with representatives from the Peyton Anderson Foundation and members of our Wesleyan community to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated Peyton T. Anderson, Jr. Amphitheater.

Thanks to the Foundation's $590,000 investment, this space has been completely transformed. And, while the new seating, lighting and technology are certainly something to see, we're even more excited about the classes and conversations that will fill this space for years to come.

Earlier today, Wesleyan officially unveiled the newly renovated Peyton T. Anderson, Jr. Amphitheater, and the transformation is something to see!

Thanks to a $590,000 gift from the Peyton Anderson Foundation, the amphitheater has been completely reimagined with new seating, enhanced lighting and updated technology.

But the real excitement isn't just how the space looks. It's what will happen here.

Future generations of Wesleyan women will use this amphitheater for classes, presentations and campus gatherings. And with plans to welcome community events, it will also become another place where Wesleyan and the greater Macon community can come together.

The Peyton Anderson Foundation has been part of Wesleyan's story since 1989, committing more than $5.9 million to the College over the years.

As we approach our 190th anniversary, know that your alma mater is proudly making sure the campus remains ready for the generations of women who will follow in your footsteps.

Tomorrow, October 14, at 6 pm the Leadership Lab continues its Women’s Health Series with Leading with Heart: A Conversation on Breast Cancer Crisis and Care.

The event will be moderated by Cyndey Busbee, Vice President of Governance and Organizational Affairs for the Georgia Area of Atrium Health. And while the years, hairstyles and fashion trends may have changed, one thing hasn’t: the incredible things Wesleyan women go on to accomplish.
