MGA Music shares their space with the Georgia Film Academy on Fridays. Imagine, you could major in music production or music performance at MGA and couple it with a minor in film from the top Film school in the state. All for about $20K out the door. Graduated.

Professor Gerald Ricks comes to MGA with a wealth of experience, most recently with the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. where he worked as an arts administrator. We are thrilled to have him join our music faculty!

Dr. Lanning’s music history class traveled back in time to compose early music by candlelight. They each created their own musical notation system and shared their process with the class.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to our friends at Mercer University on the passing of Ian Altman.

He was a remarkable presence in our community whose impact reached far beyond the stage and classroom. His contributions to the music community will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The Townsend School of Music is grieving the passing of Dr. Ian Altman, associate professor of piano at the School of Music. Dr. Altman was retiring at the end of this school year, after 52 years of dedicated service to Mercer.

Dr. Altman was passionate about teaching and cared deeply for his students. He taught most of the music majors who entered the halls of the McCorkle Music Building and Ware Hall before it, and he will be greatly missed by the faculty, staff, and students.

The MGA Chamber Singers will join the Choral Society of Middle Georgia and the Mercer University choir this weekend for a concert celebrating 50 years of choral music in Macon. Concert is free for students. You are invited!
